(17-140-002) Implementation Guidelines for the Integrated Bachelor–Master Degree Program Department of Semiconductor Engineering Lunghwa University of Science and Technology
Implementation Guidelines for the Integrated Bachelor–Master Degree Program
Department of Semiconductor Engineering Lunghwa University of Science and Technology
Article 1 In accordance with the University’s “Implementation Guidelines for the Integrated Bachelor–Master Degree Program,” and to encourage outstanding undergraduate students to continue their studies in the Department of Semiconductor Engineering at the master’s level, thereby achieving continuous learning and shortening the duration of study, the Department establishes these Implementation Guidelines.
Article 2 Undergraduate students of the College of Engineering who meet the following qualifications may apply for admission to the Department’s Integrated Bachelor–Master Degree Program beginning in their fifth semester, by submitting the application form (see Appendix 1) prior to registration each semester. Successful applicants shall be granted the status of “Prospective Graduate Student” (hereinafter referred to as “PGS”):
-
Completion of at least one-half of the total credits required for graduation.
-
Either (a) winning awards in national or higher-level professional competitions, or (b) ranking within the top 50% of their class, or (c) achieving an average grade of 70 or above in the first four semesters.
Article 3 Students granted PGS status must obtain their bachelor’s degree by the eighth semester and participate in either the Department’s master’s program entrance examination or the general admissions examination. Only upon admission will they formally obtain graduate student status in the Department’s master’s program.
Article 4 PGS students admitted to the master’s program may apply for credit transfer of master’s courses taken during their undergraduate studies, provided they achieved a grade of 70 or above and the courses are recognized by the Department. Applications must be submitted within one week after the registration deadline of the semester of admission. The total number of transferable credits shall not exceed two-thirds of the required graduation credits (excluding thesis credits). Courses already counted toward undergraduate graduation requirements may not be transferred again for master’s program credits.
Article 5 Matters not specified in these Guidelines shall be handled in accordance with relevant University and Ministry of Education regulations.
Article 6 These Guidelines shall be implemented upon approval by the Department Affairs Meeting and filed with the College of Engineering. Amendments shall follow the same procedure.
